Our board

Paul Hekkert (chairman)
Paul Hekkert is professor of Form Theory at the department of Industrial Design of Delft University of Technology. He has a background in experimental psychology and obtained his PhD degree (1995) for a thesis on the determinants of aesthetic preference. His main research interest is product experience, including product aesthetics, emotion, expressiveness, and attachment. Next, he is involved in design methodology and has co-developed an interaction-centred design approach, called ViP (Vision in Product design).

Pieter Desmet
Pieter Desmet is an associate professor at the department of Industrial Design, Delft University of Technology. He has a background in industrial design, and in 2002 he obtained his Ph.D. for research on emotional product experience. He currently continues this research in cooperation with several companies. His main interest is the relationship between the design of products and the emotional responses they elicit.

Jeroen van Erp
Jeroen van Erp is one of the founders of Fabrique, a multi disciplinary design consultancy in Delft. As a designer he worked on a variety of projects such as chairs for the metro of Porto, the website for Albert Heijn (the 'Dutch Tesco') and the internet cafe for access provider Planet Internet. The main theme in the designs is that style is not important, but it's the total experience of the product that counts.

Geke Ludden
Dr. Geke D. S. Ludden is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Engineering Technology (Product Design Chair) of the University of Twente. She has a background in Industrial Design (MSc 2003). In 2008 she obtained a PhD from Delft University of Technology on research on multisensory perception and surprise. Her current research topics include (multi)sensory design, surprise, the experience of smart products and design for behaviour change.

Marco van Hout (ambassador)
Marco van Hout is co-founder SusaGroup, a strategic design consultancy, and is editor of the website Design & Emotion. As ambassador of the Design & Emotion Society, Marco is responsible for promoting the society, expanding its network worldwide and increasing the involvement of the community.

Linda Rindertsma (coordinator)
As coordinator of the D&E Society, Linda supports the board in its meetings, is responsible for gathering sponsors, organizing events and is editor of the D&E Newsletter.
