General information about TEN!

In 2009, the Design & Emotion Society will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Originating at the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, the Design & Emotion Society has grown to be an international platform in the field of design for emotion over the past ten years. Workshops and conferences are held all over the world and the network of associate is growing every day. What could be a better activity to celebrate our birthday than a major workshop in "design for emotion", at this faculty where it all started?

The Design & Emotion Society invites all IDE Master students to join us on the 28th of August. The workshop will be facilitated by Pieter Desmet, expert on the subject and experienced workshop facilitator. He will provide the participants with a quick theory overview and guidelines to design for emotion. The workshop will show how the design for emotion theory can be applied to the designing of products and services, in order to create meaningful products that enrich people's life. For an example, see our latest book Enriching.

In teams of 4, 200 students will work on cases provided by our partners: Unilever, KLM and Philips. They will be supported by experts from the field of design for emotion. At the end of the day, the teams will present their results and prices will be awarded to the best works.

Participation is FREE! Students will be awarded 1 ECTS as the "ID5531 Workshops" course. To receive the ECTS for this course, participants must have handed in their sensitizing assignments before August 15 and must have completed the workshop itself. No need to subscribe for this course in TAS; subscription to the workshop suffices.
